Today is The Earth Day. Give even a speck of respect for our Earth. Earth is home to all the people. Earth Day was first conceived by Gaylord Nelson, a member of the United States Senate in 1963. The idea was a momentum to learn about the Earth and how to maintain it.
If only 200 thousand citizens of Jakarta which has a private car took time to work at home one day a week, the cost of national consumption could save USD $ 2.6 trillion per year. Meanwhile, exhaust emissions can be reduced to reach 30 million tons per year. The amount is equivalent to planting 30 million trees over 30 years.
Various events and natural disasters that hit the earth inhabitants from floods, landslides, droughts, to changing rainfall patterns is a natural calling remind people about the environmental damage that must be faced today. Greenhouse effect (ERK) course is known as one of the threats to the earth. ERK caused by rising concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other gases in the atmosphere. The increase in CO2 concentration is due to an increase in fuel oil combustion (fuel), coal, and other organic materials that exceed the ability of plants and sea to be absorbed.
According to estimates, the greenhouse effect the earth temperature has increased an average of 1-5 degrees Celsius. If the trend of increased tendency of the greenhouse remains as it would lead to increased global warming of 1.5 to 4.5 degrees Celsius by 2030. With increasing concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, more heat waves reflected from the surface of the Earth’s atmosphere is absorbed. This will cause the Earth’s surface temperature to be increased.
Actually, we can prevent, or at least extend the time that these phenomena can be avoided. Quite simply, by adjusting the pattern of daily living with climate change that has occurred. Among them perform energy efficient in everyday life.
