Boscha’s Sun Binoculars

As reported the nation’s leading newspapers, Kompas. Indonesia Boscha observatory located in Lembang, Bandung, West Java now has a new facility in the form of sun glasses. Location Lembang cities in the tropics and enough to make a pretty good strategy to study the sun.

NASA already has a SOHO (Solar & Heliospheric Observatory), certainly not balanced when compared to existing solar telescope in the Boscha. However, due to the strategic location and close enough to the center of Bandung. This is very good facilities to attract people, especially students.

Looking ahead, the data from this solar telescope will be connected with live streaming on the ITB’s website and updated in real time. This data would be used for the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN).

Solar Cycle Miracle

The sun on the way its evolution as a star shows the dynamic properties, both in the outer layer (photosphere, chromosphere, corona) and the inner lining. One of the wonders of evolution behavior is the phenomenon of solar activity cycle 11 years.

Iteration cycle is a common event in nature. Afternoon changed the night, due to the earth’s rotation on its axis. Successive seasons due to the slope of the earth’s rotation axis to the plane of its orbit around the sun (the earth’s equator at an angle of 23.5 degrees to the Ecliptic). And the sun was also a cycle of activity.

Indonesian Student-Made Satellite Launch in The Year 2012

Mini satellite or nano satellite (made by students) is going to launch in Indonesia in the year 2012, because the discussion between students of UGM, ITB, ITS, UI, and PENS ITS and abroad Indonesian students has begun.

“Starting this year (2009), we conducted a series of meetings with students from various campuses,” said researchers from Indonesia in the TU Delft the Netherlands, Dedy HB Wicaksono, PhD., At Surabaya, Monday.

In between Workshops Inspire (Indonesian Satellite Platform Nano Initiative for Research & Education) in PENS ITS, he said the meeting would continue with an intensive research in the Netherlands or in Indonesia.

Asteriod will Hit Earth in the Year 2029

Until now the asteroid is named Asteroid 2004 MN4 is rather difficult to observe. “The Torino Scale Collision strength used by astronomers about the possibility of collision with Earth, the asteroid was scored 2 out of 10″, said Donald Yeomans of the program manager of the Near Earth Object part of the propulsion system NASA Laboratory in Pasadena.
